क्षाम _kṣāma
क्षाम a. [क्षै-कर्तरि क्त क्षायो मः P.VIII.2.53]
1 Scorch- ed, signed.
-2 Diminished, thin, wasted; emaciated, lean; क्षामक्षामकपोलमाननम् Ś.3.9; मध्ये क्षामा Me.84; क्षामच्छायं भवनमधुना मद्वियोगेन नूनम् 82,91.
-3 Slight, little, small.
-4 Weak, infirm.
-मः An epithet of Viṣṇu.
-मा The earth; द्यावा ह क्षामा Mbh. on P.I.2.64.
-मम् Destruction.
-Comp. -आस्यम् unwholesome diet; अपथ्य- महितं रोग्यं क्षामास्यं परिकीर्तितम् (शब्दचन्द्रिका)
-इष्टिन्यायः The rule according to which a conditional cause laying down a निमित्त must be so construed as to avoid it involving a नित्य or unavoidable circumstance. This is discussed and established by Jaimini and Śabara in MS.6.4.17-21.
